Lustrous and luscious hair is what dreams are made of but it’s no easy feat to achieve. There’s a lot of conscious care and hard work that goes behind growing the perfect mane.
Many factors such as the weather, water, air and more affect hair health and aggravate hair loss at an early age. It’s also pretty safe to conclude that hair problems are universal with movies such as Bala and Ujda Chaman hitting the box office.
Here we list a six hair masques that are sure to solve your hair woes and rock the locks:
1. Honey yogurt hair masque
Place 2 tbsp of fresh yogurt in a small bowl. Gently warm 1 tbsp of honey and 1 tbsp of olive oil in a small saucepan. Be careful not to overheat it. Pour the mixture over the yogurt and stir until completely mixed.
Apply the masque to your hair working up from your ends, and making sure to massage into your scalp to stimulate circulation. Rinse after 30 to 45 minutes.
2. Coconut olive oil hair masque
Mix ¼ cup of coconut milk and ½ tsp of olive oil. Add more olive oil if you have dry hair. Carefully comb the mixture through your hair, paying special attention to the ends. Wrap your head in a warm towel for 20 minutes and then, rinse.
3. Avocado banana hair masque
Combine 1 cup water and ¼ cup apple cider vinegar in a small bowl and set aside. Combine ½ avocado, ½ banana, 1 egg and 1 tbsp olive oil in a food processor. Mix it until there are no clumps are present.
Massage the masque into your scalp and comb through your hair with your fingers or a wide-toothed comb. Then, cover your hair with a shower cap and leave in for 20 minutes. Rinse your hair with cool water and wash normally with a regular shampoo.
After shampooing, rinse hair thoroughly and then pour the apple cider vinegar and water mixture over your hair. Let the mixture sit on your hair for one to two minutes, then rinse and condition as normal.
4. Strawberry mayonnaise hair masque
Blend 8 strawberries and 2 tbsp of mayonnaise together to form a creamy paste. Apply the mixture generously onto your wet hair. Leave the masque on for 15 to 20 minutes, longer for dry hair. Rinse off, shampoo and condition your hair, as usual.
5. Aloe vera hair masque
In a bowl, take 2 tbsp of pure aloe vera gel. You can either use store-bought pure aloe gel or use freshly scooped one. Add in ½ tsp of cinnamon powder and give the mixture a good mix, making sure there are no lumps.
Once you are done with this, apply the masque all over hair and scalp. Do not worry if your scalp tingles a bit—it shows that the masque is working on the scalp.
Tie a bun and cover your head with a shower cap. Shampoo it off after 10 to 15 minutes and condition your hair.
6. Egg and mayonnaise hair masque
Pour 5 tbsp of mayonnaise into a bowl and add 2 raw eggs to it. Use a whisk to mix them together until the mixture is fully blended. Add 1 tsp of vinegar or olive oil for extra shine if you have coarse hair.
Dip your hands into the mixture and pull it through your hair from root to tip. Continue until your hair is completely coated. Pull a plastic shower cap on over your hair.
Heat up a towel in the dryer and wrap it around the shower cap. Leave the masque in place for 20 minutes and then rinse your hair completely with warm water.
