Come winter, the keyword on everybody’s lips is dryness. After all, who doesn’t lament the loss of moisture from their once supple skin? Khushki is nobody’s friend! And yes, that includes all you lovely ladies with oily skin.

You see, while your summer skincare regimen might be focused on taming sebum production aggravated by heat and humidity, your winter routine needs to be gentler.

“The winter air is drier and so it leaches moisture from the skin,” explains Dr Kiran Sethi, renowned Delhi-based skin specialist. “If you don’t change your regimen, your skin will definitely feel dry and irritated.”

So what’s best for the chilly months ahead?
Well, now is the time to invest in nourishing and hydrating products that help keep your skin supple, without making you break out.

“Choose moisturising formulations that feature ceramides and essential fatty acids. You can also opt for squalene-based serums,” suggests Dr Sethi.

Wondering which products can come to your skin’s rescue this winter? Well, here are a few, handpicked by Team Health Shots, to help you make all the right skin care decisions:

Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser
A non-foaming formulation, this one promises to cleanse without stripping away your skin’s natural oils. It also effectively removes makeup, is non-comedogenic, and soothes sensitive skin. That said, Dr Sethi suggests that you shouldn’t wash your face more than twice a day in the winter.

Rs 431 for 250 ml. Available at most pharmacies across the country.

Neemli Naturals Turmeric Root & Olive Squalane Elixir
Made with essential oils and free of sulfates and parabens, this night serum hydrates the skin while keeping acne and excess oil at bay. Featuring sunflower, argan, wheatgerm, rose hip, turmeric, and geranium oils–this product also fights signs of ageing.

Rs 1,950 for 30 ml. Available at nykaa.com.
