When we hear of inflammation, the first thing that comes to mind is injury. But is it really that, or much more? Inflammation is a part of the body’s defense mechanism and helps it to heal. What this essentially means is that the body responds to a foreign object or attacker that is perceived as potentially harmful.

But in certain cases, the body even perceives its own cells as harmful, which can lead to diseases like type 1 diabetes. It can further cause even more chronic ailments like type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

But how does one know that there is chronic inflammation in the body? Are there any signs and symptoms? Well, the answer is YES. Before we move on to the signs of inflammation in the body, remember there are various reasons why inflammation takes place in the body. It could be your genes, but your lifestyle has a huge role to play. Your diet may be wrong, and so could be your sleep patterns. It could all be that certain unknown allergies are exacerbating inflammation in your body.

These are some signs of inflammation to pay attention to:

1. You feel tired, even after sleeping well

Have you been sleeping late for a long time? Or is it that you think you don’t need much sleep? Well, whatever be the situation, if you sleep less than seven hours or even more than nine (yes, even then), your body might think there’s something wrong with you. In that case, you are only going to feel more tired. And no, it’s not just about one day — it’s going to be the same, every single day!

2. You have perpetual body ache

We all have body ache when our body’s temperature goes up, but if you have this otherwise too, then it’s a cause for concern. If you notice pain when you move, or when you perform an activity, then your body is trying to warn you. You could have arthritis too, which is why it is essential to see a doctor. Don’t think it only happens to the elderly population!

3. You have digestive problems

Again, if you suffer from gastritis or bloating issues once in a while, you can heave a sigh of relief. But if this is a constant problem, then please be wary! Something is not right, which is why it is essential to see a doctor at the earliest. If left untreated, the inflammation could turn into something more serious like irritable bowel syndrome or even Crohn’s disease.

Also, Watch:

4. Your lymph nodes are swollen

For the uninitiated, lymph nodes are located in your neck, under your armpits or even the groin. If you notice any kind of swelling, it means something is not right with your immune system. It often happens when you have a cold or sore throat, but once it goes, the swelling disappears. But if your lymph nodes are always swollen and hurt you, then let a doctor know as soon as you can.

5. You have a stuffy nose

Inflammation can also manifest in the form of inflamed nasal cavities. While a stuffy nose may seem harmless and make you think it’s a seasonal allergy, it could be so much more. If it doesn’t go after a few days, then it could be a sign of chronic inflammation in your body

So ladies, listen to your body and pay attention to these signs of inflammation, and act before it’s too late!
