It’s the month of World Yoga Day, and we all are gearing up for the occasion on June 21. Everyone has their own purpose to start yoga. Some do it in pursuit of weight loss, while some seek a calm mind and sound mental health with certain yoga poses. And then there are also a few of us who want to target the most stubborn part of our body – our belly. What can be better than the Halasana aka Plow pose when it comes to that?
So this Yoga Day, let’s give some TLC to our tummy and learn the right way to do the Halasana.
Step 1: Lie down on your back. Keep your legs straight, palms down, and your back should be touching the mat.
Step 2: Pressing your palms on the mat, lift your legs perpendicular to your lower back. Try to balance your stance.
Step 3: Now use your abdominal muscles and make your feet reach above your head slowly.
Step 4: Try to touch the floor with your feet by taking your legs beyond your head. If you are unable to touch the floor then reach out to your max limit.
Step 5: Hold this pose and keep breathing slowly.
Step 6: To release the plow pose, slowly detach your feet from the ground and lift your legs as gently as you can. Don’t be in a hurry to be back in the starting position. Like you started, first try to get your legs into a 90-degree angle, hold, and then bring your back down.
Step 7: Lie down comfortably for 5 to 10 deep breaths and then repeat the pose again.
Well, it depends on how you have actually mastered the art. But to be on the safer side you can be in this pose for a minute or a minute and a half. Avoid doing it for a longer time because it can strain your lower back.
If you are a beginner, do it under guidance. It is possible that you may not be able to do a full Halasana the very first time but with practice, you can totally get there.
So ladies, as you can see betting on the Halasana isn’t all that bad. In fact, it is all that you need to reduce your belly.
