Nowadays, fitness is becoming more of a trend and healthy eating is the norm! A bowlful of snacks is exciting but not really ideal. Some people are impulsive when it comes to snacking and eating to unwind. We tend to pick anything we find and nibble on it to soothe our hunger pangs instead of looking for healthy snack options. This causes obesity, acid reflux and even lethargy.

Health Shots got in touch with diet expert Sagar Bhalotia, who lists 5 super snacks that can leave you charged up.

Bhalotia says, “Snacking gives us strength in the middle of the day. Your food choices also align for a healthy diet that will ensure you don’t overindulge during the day.”

If you’re still not sure enough what food to eat that will keep you fit, we are extending some help.

Here’s a list of healthy snack options suited for a health-conscious person:

1. Controlled calorie cookies

The name cookie is enough to be reminiscent of butter, chocolate chips, and Maida. But there are options available in the market in which butter is replaced with hemp oil, maida with a healthier flour, and still keeping it indulgent. From cooking techniques to cooking ingredients, these products are made for the love of keeping fit and are a perfect snack to keep you full. Look for cookies with barley, millets and ragi flour and healthier fat options.

2. Roasted seeds and nuts

Nuts and seeds are also great healthy snacks. One can mix seeds and nuts like pistachios, almonds, peanuts, and groundnuts, sunflower seeds, and pumpkin seeds. You may toss them in olive oil, and load them in an air-tight container. Either you can have them dry or eat them with milk. However, while traveling, nuts and seed mix is the most suitable snack to pop on.

“Nuts have a high protein range. It is an essential part of fasting food because a fistful of them can provide you with energy to last the whole day. Having a bowl of fox nuts will load you up and also keep the calories in check,” adds Bhalotia, Co-founder, TagZ Foods.

3. Mango smoothie

The best thing about summer has to be mangoes. The king of fruits is rich in minerals, vitamins and antioxidants. Having a mango smoothie for breakfast/evening snacks can make you feel fresh.

Bhalotia suggests a simple recipe of mango smoothie in very short steps. “You just need one chopped mango for it. Blend it into a puree and according to your taste, you can add milk, nuts, or coconut water. Your summer delight is ready.”

4. Kale chips

Kale is loaded with fiber, and antioxidants like beta carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin. It also contains minerals, such as phosphorus and calcium. It has an anti-nutrient that impairs calcium absorption, unlike many other leafy greens. They make for delicious and crispy chips but also a more balanced and filling snack that keeps you happy and healthy all day long.

5. Green Goddess salad

Salads make for good healthy snack options. Green goddess is a creamy salad made with a mixture of herbs. It is light, stimulating, and slightly savory. This high in sodium green goddess salad is also rich in good fats. Good fats include monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fatty acids which provide a multitude of heart-healthy benefits. You can chop green cabbage, 3-4 cucumbers, 1/4 cup chives, spinach, lettuce, and 1 bundle of green onion or scallions. Mix them up in a bowl. Prepare a salad dressing using coconut milk, pepper, olive oil, lemon, peri-peri chilli, and pour it over the greens. Enjoy it fresh.
