There’s no easy way of losing weight or let’s say fat. Those fancy weight loss supplements or tonics might sway you, but let’s say it loud and clear, you really have to put in time and effort to shed those extra kilos. Consistency is key, and if you’re at it, then we promise, results will follow! 

We’ve often heard how diet plays the most important role, when it comes to weight loss. Of course, there’s no single food that can help you magically lose fat, but there are certain fat-burning foods that help to accelerate the process. 

So, if you dedicatedly follow a healthy lifestyle and combine it with a fair share of exercise, then some foods can enhance your fat loss journey.

1. Chilli pepper

If you’re fond of spice, then we are sure it must already be a part of your diet. If not, then make sure to add it to burn fat. Chilli pepper contains an antioxidant called capsaicin that helps to maintain a healthy weight. Moreover, a study published in the journal Appetite found that this compound can also promote satiety.

There’s another study that was published in the European Journal of Nutrition that found that capsaicin can help you burn fat by losing more calories. The easiest way to include this in your diet is by adding its powdered form in everyday meals.

2. Coffee

Yes, you heard it right! Drinking an optimum amount of coffee can actually help you burn excess fat. Research published in the journal Food Science and Biotechnology found that caffeine present in coffee can increase the metabolic rate of your body, helping burn more calories and thus more fat.

In another study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the participants consumed 100 mg of caffeine every two hours for 12 hours. They noted that healthy adults burned an average of 150 extra calories and obese adults burned an additional 79 calories. However, you should know that coffee also has some side effects, so you shouldn’t be consuming too much!

3. Eggs

Eggs have to be the most favourite breakfast food for all fitness freaks around the globe, because it is high in nutrition. There have been several studies that have been published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition and Nutritional Research that have found that eating eggs for breakfast reduces hunger by promoting the feeling of fullness.

In another eight-week study published in the International Journal of Obesity, participants who had three eggs for breakfast reduced 16% of their body fat, as compared to the group who had bagels for breakfast.

4. Green tea

The benefits of green tea make it the perfect candidate to be on this list! Green tea has a powerful antioxidant called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) that helps you burn fat. Guess what? It’s not just another claim, but has been proved by several studies published in journals like the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, and The Journal of Nutrition, to name a few.

5. Apple cider vinegar

If you’ve been using apple cider vinegar, as part of your hair care regime, then it’s time to add it to your diet as well. An animal study published in the journal Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition noted that the acetic acid present in apple cider vinegar increases the fat burning process in your body, thereby reducing the stored fat.

In a study published in the journal Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, participants were given two tablespoons of vinegar in their regular diet for a period of 12 weeks. At the end of the period, the participants experienced a 0.9% reduction in body fat.

6. Olive Oil

Olive oil is one of the healthiest for a reason. A study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that this oil lowers triglycerides, increases HDL cholesterol and stimulates the release of GLP-1 in your body. These are some of the hormones that help to keep you satiated for longer periods.

Moreover, many other studies published in different journals have also shown that olive oil can boost the metabolic rate, thereby promoting fat loss in your body. You can easily incorporate olive oil into your diet by drizzling it over salads, or using it to cook your food.
