What do you love most about an avocado? Is it the taste, texture, or the fact that it can induce weight loss? Well, there’s no denying that this fruit is versatile — after all, you can spread a generous layer on toast, or add it to your smoothie bowl. It’s delicious and at the same time has loads of nutrients: there’s potassium, magnesium, iron, sodium, vitamin B6, K, zinc, copper, and so much more!

But here lies the problem: in India, you will mainly find frozen avocados, which are not as good as the fresh ones. Plus, the price point is such a downer! That’s why we’ve got you some desi superfoods that can easily replace avocados, and keep your weight loss intact!

So, let’s find out about these five healthy and totally paisa vasool superfoods that can serve as good alternatives to avocados, recommended by clinical nutritionist, Dr Lovneet Batra:

1. Bananas
No ladies, contrary to general perception, it won’t make you fat at all! Just like avocados, bananas are weight-loss friendly. Besides, they are rich in potassium and magnesium, which is a huge plus point! What’s more, you won’t miss your avocado smoothies and shakes, because bananas are at your service too.

2. Coconut
BTW, we mean raw coconut here. If you are on a keto diet and are looking to swap avocados with an equally healthy substitute, there’s nothing better than nariyal or raw coconut. It’s not just a great weight-loss food but also nourishes your skin and hair.

Raw coconuts contain potassium, zinc, iron and magnesium, all of which are there in avocados too! And guess what? It has fibre too, which you won’t find in avocados — that means your gut health will stay on track!

3. Cashew Fruit
India produces cashew fruit in abundance, which means you don’t have to worry about its freshness at all! It contains generous amounts of iron and sodium, which is also found in avocados. And in case you find it difficult to find cashew fruits in your neighbourhood, worry not! You can also munch on dried cashew nuts.

4. Custard apple
If you love the texture of avocado just like we do, then how about giving some attention to the good ol’ custard apple? This delicious fruit is not just packed with nutrients, but is easy on the pocket too!

Both avocados and custard apples boast vitamin B6, magnesium, and iron. Interestingly, all these nutrients are in higher proportion in custard apples than avocados.

What’s more, singhadas are loaded with fibre, potassium, manganese, copper, vitamin B6, and riboflavin. Just like avocados, they curb hunger pangs and help in your weight loss journey!

So ladies, do not worry about giving up on avocados! These healthy Indian superfoods make for the perfect swap and are equally beneficial for weight loss.
