They say brows before bros, for a reason! Perfectly shaped eyebrows give your face dimension and depth and highlight your eyes beautifully. As Indians, most of us are genetically blessed with a fuller-looking set of brows. However, some ladies with sparse and thin eyebrows do a lot to jump on the bushy eyebrows trend.
Your genetic constitution affects your eyebrow hair growth, much like the hair on the rest of your body. It is difficult to grow them naturally but not impossible. However, a little care for your eyebrows may reflect sooner than you think.
To elaborate on the ways to grow thick eyebrows, HealthShots spoke to Dr Vidushi Jain, a Renowned Dermatologist.
“Medicine responses, skin disorders, hormonal imbalance, or an overactive immune system are among the many causes of brow loss and sparse hair. Decreased brows can also be caused by nutritional shortages, physical damage, or stress. It can sometimes heal on its own over a long period of time, or it can be treated with drugs prescribed by a dermatologist. However, certain home remedies are considered as primary help in restoring the hair on your eyebrows.” says Jain, a Medical Head at Dermalinks.
“Who doesn’t want their hair to grow in a healthy way? I’ll say no one. And we overlook the importance of diet and lifestyle in promoting healthy hair growth, which is the cornerstone for beautiful hair. I recommend four key elements to my patients that can improve the health of their eyebrows,” adds Dr Jain.
1. Garlic:
Garlic is high in keratin protein, which promotes hair growth.
2. Coconut oil:
Coconut oil is rich in moisture, which is necessary for healthy hair.
3. Castor oil:
Castor oil helps to increase hair density.
4. Tea tree oil:
It keeps your hair smooth and helps it grow longer.
The best thing you can do to boost hair growth is to ensure that you have a balanced diet. With a special focus on foods that are high on proteins like lean meats, pulses and dairy, your hair health will thank you. Also, try to incorporate natural sources of biotin like sweet potatoes, egg yolks and millets in your diet to boost hair growth.
Try to grow out your eyebrows completely before shaping them. Fix an eyebrow threading or waxing appointment, only when your eyebrows are grown to max. This will help your stylist to figure out the actual hair growth pattern of your eyebrows. Brief her precisely on how you want your eyebrows to look. Considering your brief, she may leave a hair or two around the sparse patches in your eyebrows.
However, the natural way may take time to reflect some serious growth and impatience may invite itself in. So, you can always fake it till you make it! By the time, you can opt for camouflaging your eyebrows into a thick and fuller look. Temporary camouflaging techniques like using eyebrow pencils, eyebrow stencils or brow setting gels and powders may work.
In case, your eyebrows make or break your look, you can also decide to try a semi-permanent camouflage procedure called microblading. In this procedure, a colour pigment is deposited in your eyebrow area like fine strokes of tattooed hair. The results from this can last for up to three years.
Well, if undergoing a painful procedure raises your eyebrows literally, we would suggest you take a deep breath and try the DIY eyebrow serum suggested here. There’s no better way than this to grow your eyebrows naturally, Ladies!
