The stars scattered in the night sky are a wonderful sight. But that’s not the case with dandruff flakes peeking through your black mane. Yikes! Dandruff not only leaves us scratching our heads, but also looks unhygienic. Among the array of hair problems that wreak havoc on our hair, dandruff is the most notorious and stubborn one.

Not to mention, the itchy dandruff flakes that infest our scalp, tend to fall on your forehead and cause pimples and acne. In addition to this, not treating it timely may cause scalp infections, alopecia and excessive hair fall.

Therefore, to get rid of dandruff at home, Dr Blossom Kochhar, chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies, shared an impressive hair hack.

Dr Kochhar says, “If you are looking to get your scalp free from dandruff, the two magical ingredients that you must add to your regular shampoo and hair care regime are apple cider vinegar and tea tree oil.”

Here’s how to use these two ingredients to get rid of dandruff:

  1. Take a bowl and pour a dime sized amount of your regular shampoo.
  2. Add a tsp of castor oil.
  3. Mix 1 tsp of glycerine.
  4. Now, pour 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar in the bowl.
  5. Mix it all to combine well.
  6. Wet your hair and apply this shampoo mix on your scalp and work your way down to your hair.
  7. Leave it on for 10-20 minutes and rinse off with lukewarm water.

Here’s how tea tree oil helps to reduce dandruff:

The antiseptic and antibacterial properties of tea tree oil makes it one of the best oils to control dandruff. These properties help maintain the pH balance of the scalp and kill the bacteria which causes dandruff. It further reduces itchiness and controls sebum production.

Here’s how apple cider vinegar can help:

Another ingredient is apple cider vinegar. Many believe that apple cider is a magical potent ingredient for shiny hair but its uses are not just restricted to that. Its anti-fungal and antibacterial properties help combat scalp infections, dryness, itchiness and dandruff too.

“Not only this, an after-shampoo apple cider vinegar rinse can do wonders to your hair. It helps in retaining the pH level of your scalp and leaving you with soft, shiny and smooth hair. And those who have coloured hair, it is even more beneficial as this rinse brings out the hair color better,” says Dr Kochhar.

Try this quick hack twice a week and bid goodbye to dandruff flakes on your shoulders and hair. This will not only protect your scalp from infections but also nourish your hair and leave them shiny!
