The very thought of ‘sex’ conjures up images of pleasure and let’s just say it’s a great feeling. While having a hot and heavy sesh with your partner is always a good idea, what if you want to indulge in self-pleasure? Again, that’s always something you could explore, and it doesn’t have to be boring in any way. You could spice things up using sex toys

While most of us have heard about sex toys, we barely know the details. But before we get down to all that, let’s tell the unacquainted what they really mean. These toys are also called adult toys or even marital aids, and help people experience more pleasure during sex or masturabtion. It may come as a surprise to you but these toys are also sometimes used to help in the treatment of sexual disorders.

Unlike general perception, there’s nothing wrong or ‘immoral’ about using sex toys. Go ahead and use them if you want to indulge in self-pleasure. The only thing to keep in mind is your safety and comfort. So, are you ready to find out more?

Why do people use sex toys?

Anyone and everyone can use sex toys, whenever they like! Of course, there can be different reasons why people use these toys — some can’t have an orgasm without their help, while for those it aids in masturbation. And while not many may know this, sex toys can also be used, while having sex with your partner.

There are also some specific kinds of sex toys that are crafted for transgender and non-binary people, and even for those who are specially-abled and have restricted mobility.

As mentioned above, sex toys can also help to treat certain sexual disorders, including erectile dysfunction or even orgasm issues. It could also heat things up when a woman’s sex drive is low, especially during menopause.

These are the different types of sex toys out there

It might surprise you but there’s a wide range of sex toys available today:

  • Vibrators: As the name suggests, these toys use vibration to stimulate your private parts. Women generally use them in their clitoris or other parts of their vulva to feel aroused. They come in all shapes and sizes, and can easily enter the vagina or anus.
  • Dildos: These are objects that can be easily used inside the vagina, anus or even mouth. They come in various shapes and sizes, but largely look like penises. Some may even look real, while others are more imaginative. Dildos are made from different materials, so you can take your pick and have some fun!
  • Anal toys: These are sex toys that can stimulate your anus. They come with something called butt plugs and anal beads, and have a wider base than dildos. There’s something you must remember — it’s always a good idea to use a lube when you use anal toys. Try getting an anal toy that has a flared base, so that it can be pulled out easily.
  • Masturbation sleeves: This sex toy might not be easily available, but it is particularly helpful for those who have a larger clitoris.

  • Vagina or orgasm balls: These sex toys are round in shape and can easily be put inside your vagina. Not only do they help to stimulate your genitals, but also strengthen your kegel muscles.
  • Harnesses: These are garments that hold a dildo or any other sex toy against your body.

You could use any of the above toys, based on what your sexual goal is. There are some sex toys like vibrators and dildos that are pretty common, while others are more experimental. At the end of the day, there’s really no rule. It’s where your comfort lies, and that’s all that matters.

This is something you must not ignore at any cost. Sex toys must not be shared, because they can cause sexually transmitted diseases. The body fluids on the toy can spread the infection to the next person who uses that toy. Wash your sex toy with mild soap and water after you use them. It may sound bizarre, but you can always put condoms on sex toys to keep them clean.

If you use an anal toy, use lots of lube. That’s because your anus isn’t self-lubricating like the vagina, and you could hurt yourself when you insert the toy. Also, never put a toy that you inserted into the vagina directly into your anus, without washing it.

Last but not the least, do not use silicone lube with silicone sex toys. It could cause more harm than good!
